Randy Colosky sent over images from his show that opened last week at Adobe Books in San Francisco. Combining color and symbolism, Randy explored space and suspension of disbelief in his latest work. Inspired by Fort Thunder (an old warehouse space in Providence that was known for it's vibrant show posters) and old Chinese scroll paintings, Randy seemlessly pairs these inspirations together. What I appreciate about Randy's work is his expansion of color. Color is huge these days. HUGE. I can't get enough of it. However rainbows and gems are getting a bit saturated (no pun intended), and Randy's work is heading in a new direction that's fresh and welcome. See the full show here.
i went to this opening, but it was so crowded i never made it to the art! i need to go back.

i know, i feel like a jerk for saying that, as i am a lover of the rainbows and what girl doesn't love the bling?! but, it's always nice to see a fresh take on color...and let's call a spade a spade...there is a lot of rainbows and gems out there. i ain't a hater though...this you can be sure.
